On December 27, at 20.00 a concert called “Rus, East and West” will take place at the Dome Cathedral. The illustrious chamber male choir of the Moscow Patriarchate Drevnerusski raspev (Old Russian Chant) will perform Byzantine Nativity chants, Georgian liturgical chants, Old Russian chants, Russian folk songs and pieces written by Russian classical composers - Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Taneyev, Rimsky-Korsakov, Sviridov.
Recognized as one of Russia's leading ensembles, Drevnerusski raspev was founded by Anatoly Grindenko in 1983 in Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Laura.The choir has toured in Austria, UK, Hungary, Israel, Spain, Iceland, Poland, Serbia, USA, France, Finland, Switzerland, Italy and Japan. 15 CDs recorded at the well-known European studios like Opus 111 and Harmonia Mundi received international music critics’ awards.
