Comedy icon Eric Idle is heading to Estonia with his brand-new solo show “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, Live!”. Set to take place at Alexela Kontserdimaja in Tallinn on April 20, 2026, this evening of sharp humour, unforgettable songs and inappropriate wisdom will be the comedy event of the spring.
Following a hugely successful tour of the UK, Australia and New Zealand, Eric Idle is now bringing his one-man show to Scandinavia and Estonia. With a mix of comedy, music, philosophy and—by his own count—one fart joke, the performance promises an intimate and hilarious look at the life of a true entertainment legend.
A rare survivor of pancreatic cancer, Idle delivers the evening with his trademark irony, singing: “This may be the last time you see me.” Expect rude songs, singalongs, irreverent memories of fame and fortune, never-before-seen footage, and a surprise-filled soundtrack by The Virtual Band – which he describes as a sort of “Infinite Monkees Cage” ensemble.
Throughout the night, Idle pays touching tributes to long-time friends and collaborators George Harrison, Robin Williams, and Neil Innes. There's also a salute to The Rutles, the cult Beatles parody band Idle created, featured in what is widely considered the world’s first mockumentary.
Eric Idle – star of stage, screen and crossword puzzle – has often been compared to Noel Coward. “But never favourably,” he jokes. A true comedy survivor, Idle recalls how he stumbled into the scene in 1963 and, as he puts it, “hasn’t found the exit since.” His mission? “To cheer people up,” he adds glumly.
Audiences may remember his last solo UK performance from the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, where he led 80,000 spectators in a rousing rendition of “Always Look on the Bright Side of Lif”e – flanked by Morris dancers, rugby choirs and skating nuns. Two years later, he reunited with the original Python team for “Monty Python Live (Mostly)”, a ten-night sold-out run at The O2 which he wrote and directed.
“Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”, the title of both this show and his best-selling Sortabiography, has been the most requested funeral song in the UK for over 20 years. It also features in the Tony Award-winning musical “Spamalot”, which Idle co-wrote with John Du Prez. “Spamalot” returned to Broadway last year to glowing reviews and packed houses and is set to tour the US again from September.
Idle’s most recent book, “The Spamalot Diaries”, gives an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the making of that musical masterpiece and was published last year.
Prepare for an unforgettable evening of comedy, music, philosophy – and one fart joke – when Eric Idle brings “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, Live!” to Alexela Kontserdimaja in Tallinn on April 20, 2026. Tickets for Live Nation Concert Club members will be available from December 22 at 10:00. General ticket sales begin on December 23 at 10:00 via Piletilevi online and official sales points.
