P.O.D.
P.O.D. TO PERFORM AT PALLADIUM RIGA
From underground shows to platinum records, American rock band P.O.D. has built a sound that is hard to pin down to a single genre, yet instantly recognizable. With songs like "Alive," "Youth of the Nation," and "Boom," the band has, since the 1990s, become one of the defining acts of its generation and will perform at Palladium Rīga on August 2.
Tickets go on sale on April 10 at 10:00 via the “Biļešu Serviss” network. Members of the Positivus Festival and FBI Concert Club will have access to a presale starting April 9 at 10:00.
The band’s musical identity draws from a wide range of influences, including Run-DMC, The Police, Metallica, AC/DC, Bad Brains, and Bob Marley. This diversity is reflected in their sound, where heavy guitar riffs meet elements of rap, reggae, and punk. P.O.D. gained wider recognition with the release of their third studio album "The Fundamental Elements of Southtown," which achieved platinum status in the United States, though their success came gradually through hundreds of shows in small venues and clubs.
The San Diego quartet, consisting of vocalist Sonny Sandoval, guitarist Marcos Curiel, bassist Traa Daniels, and drummer Wuv Bernardo, has maintained its core lineup since its early days. The band’s roots trace back to the thrash metal project "Eschatos," but with Sandoval joining, a new musical direction emerged, blending metal with rap, reggae, and punk influences. The name "Payable on Death" reflects both symbolic and personal meaning tied to the band’s early years.
Over time, P.O.D. has established itself as one of the key acts of its era. Their songs "Youth of the Nation," "Boom," and "Alive" have amassed hundreds of millions of streams, the band has received three Grammy nominations, and their music has appeared in numerous film soundtracks. Their list of collaborators includes artists ranging from Carlos Santana to Katy Perry.
At the end of 2025, the band released a cover of "Don't Let Me Down" and toured South America while also working on new material. The upcoming album is expected to feature a heavier and deeper sound, incorporating a seven-string guitar for the first time. The concert in Riga will feature both well-known hits and newer material, offering a chance to experience a band that has maintained its energy and connection with audiences for more than three decades.
