Starptautiskais festivāls 'Nostalgia Fest '24'

On July 5, the Second International Popular Music Festival NOSTALGIA FEST ‘24 will start on the Grand Stage in Mezhapark.

The audience will have a unique opportunity to watch and listen the pop music idols of the 70s, 80s and 90s again!!!

On July 5, the iconic British rock group will perform on stage:

Will be the first to perform on stage the SLADE band is the bright representative of the popular trend of glam rock in the 70s and 80s. The band has one member from the original line–up since 1966 - Dave Hill. With their unique blend of perfect pop-rock'n'roll, outrageous flamboyance and pure fun, and no less than 23 Top-20 singles of which 6 were No-1 smash hits...plus 6 smash albums, SLADE have become a firm favorite in the hearts of rock fans all over the world. SLADE'S chart career has spanned 6 decades and their enduring songs “Far Far Away”, "Cum on Feel The Noize" and "Coz I Luv You" are still featured today in TV commercials for some of the World’s biggest companies.

Next iconic British band Smokie will come on stage.  Without the songs of this group not a single night disco in 80s and 90s could do! From those days and up to now they remain one of the most sought-after bands at all nostalgic festivals in different countries! Unfortunately, the major member of this group from the original line-up, Terry Utley, has died in December 2021, but current members honorably carry the banner of this group and really "light up" with cult songs, forcing the audience to sing along and enjoy what they listen and see during the performance!

Then the third British cult group SWEET, whose history began back in 1968, will take the stage. Their performance style varied from buble-gum to hard rock. In 1970 alone, they had 13 hits that entered the TOP 20 of various charts. The thread that links the past through to the present is Andy Scott. His determination to maintain high standards with the band’s musical legacy and touring is legendary. The band today has an illustrious pedigree recreating “live” the high energy and soaring vocals associated with the SWEET sound that is the band’s trade mark.  They continue to pack venues out all over the world and they have a steady tour diary.

On July 6, viewers can expect pleasant surprises from representatives of pop music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Local artists will be the first to appear on stage performing famous Latvian songs of the last century. Then, accompanied by the large symphonic rock orchestra JP Magic Orchestra, the Ukrainian duo Anna-Maria, whose fantastic voices sounded at the festival last year, will perform with the ABBA Medley program.

After this, the incendiary group ARABESQUE will take the stage with the participation of the permanent Michaela Rose from the original lineup, with whom the famous hit “Hello M. Monkey” was recorded! Some songs of this group will also be performed accompanied by JP Magic Orchestra.

The third performer will be the famous British pop group Johnny Hates Jazz, formed in 1986. Real success came to them with the release of the single “Shattered Dreams”, which became a hit. In the US it reached second place, and in the UK it stopped at fifth position; in addition, it entered the charts in Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and other European countries. In 1988, Johnny Hates Jazz were nominated for the prestigious BRIT Awards in the Best New Artist category.

The performance of the stars will be completed by the bright Precios Wilson (lead singer of the group Eruption), whose songs “One Way Ticket” and “I Can’t Stand the Rain” sounded from every radio in houses and yards, not to mention discos!

The festival will end with fireworks and a nostalgic disco!
