On June 10th, Pink Floyd's original drummer Nick Mason will perform at the Alexela Concert Hall in Tallinn with his project Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets. This will be the first time that any member of the absolutely legendary progressive rock band Pink Floyd will perform in Estonia. The concert program is divided into 2 parts and will cover the early material of Pink Floyd.
Tickets on the www.bilesuserviss.lv network starting Monday, February 10, at 11am.
Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets (NMSS) was formed in 2018 by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Meison and Blockheads guitarist Lee Harris. They asked to join Spandau Ballet's guitarist and singer Gary Kemp, long-time Pink Floyd and David Gilmour bass player Guy Pratt and producer/composer Dom Beken on keyboards, and the band of highly professional musicians has been completed.
As Mason points out, he would not like the public to perceive NMSS as a tribute band. The aim is to give fans an authentic experience of the early spirit of Pink Floyd, which spans from 1965 to 1972. As we all know, so called Syd Barrett's period pieces have been barely played during Pink Floyd high-scale shows and Roger Waters or David Gilmore solo performances.
The two-hour concert program is divided into two parts and includes such Pink Floyd songs as Astronomy Domine, Atom Heart Mother, Fearless, Green Is the Color, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, If, Obscured by Clouds, A Saucerful of Secrets, One of These Days, Point Me at the Sky, etc.
“Yes, overall, the compositions will sound similar to what we did in 1967. But if there's a good reason for improvisation, why not do it?” comments Mason. In order to provide exactly that sound and visual atmosphere that NMSS musicians want to bring to audience, all the equipment necessary for the concert will be brought to Tallinn.
The Daily Telegraph: “The sound was immense, electrifying, galvanising, mesmerising and still deeply strange, bending the formats of primal rock into all kind of weird and wonderful shapes.... It was a set of such startling intensity it seemed to mock the very notion of nostalgia. It was enough to make you wonder whether rock has progressed very far at all since the Sixties”.
Nick Mason is the original Pink Floyd drummer who not only co-founded the band, but is the only constant member since its formation. He co-wrote such band's compositions as Echoes, Time, Careful With That Ax, Eugene and One of These Days.
